In this impactful onsite role, you'll provide individualized instruction for students and collaborate closely with school staff to support each learner's unique needs. This position offers a consistent schedule of 22.5–30 hours per week across 3–4 days, ensuring you have time to build strong connections and deliver high-quality guidance throughout the academic year until May 2027.
What you'll bring:
- Valid South Carolina certification for teaching students with visual impairments (VI)
- Previous experience supporting visually impaired students in a school setting
- Strong ability to adapt instructional materials and resources
- Effective communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Dedication to fostering independence and inclusion for learners with visual challenges
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized lesson plans for students with visual impairments
- Assess students’ needs and progress, adjusting strategies accordingly
- Modify curriculum and instructional materials for accessibility
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure student success
- Offer guidance to families and staff on strategies for supporting students’ educational and daily living skills
