This rewarding contract opportunity runs from June 8th to July 16th, Monday through Thursday, with a manageable schedule perfect for professionals seeking a focused, impactful role. You’ll work 20 hours per week (8:45 AM–12:45 PM), supporting a caseload of 10–15 students in a single building, making it easy to establish connections and routines.
This position is based in a specialized educational setting, working with students who have significant behavioral and physical disabilities. Your expertise will empower learners who are visually impaired to achieve greater independence and success. You’ll collaborate closely with dedicated multidisciplinary teams at the North, South, or West Education Centers in the Plymouth area, ensuring tailored instruction for every student.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid licensure or certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who have multiple disabilities
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Skilled in collaborating with educators, families, and support staff
- Ability to manage a caseload of 10–15 students with professionalism and compassion
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with visual impairments
- Deliver direct instruction and adapt materials for accessibility
- Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend assistive technologies
- Track student progress and communicate regularly with families and colleagues
- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that encourages student engagement
