Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Alabama (required)

  • Ability to travel independently within the assigned area, as needed

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, providing tailored support based on Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals
  • Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs within the educational environment
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and educational staff to adapt curriculum materials and foster an inclusive learning setting
  • Provide recommendations for adaptive equipment, technology, and materials to promote student independence
  • Maintain accurate progress records and participate in IEP meetings as required
  • Serve as a resource to families and school staff on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
