This contract opportunity is perfect for passionate educators skilled in teaching students with visual impairments, including both Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialists. The role begins as soon as possible and is currently slated through December 18, 2026, with the possibility of extending for a full academic year.
Your schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, collaborating with multiple schools within the district. Flexibility will be key, as assignment locations may shift. Your skills and expertise will be vital in helping students access the curriculum and thrive in their educational journeys.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and/or O&M Specialist
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired across diverse grade levels
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, staff, and families
- Reliable transportation for travel between multiple school sites
- Resourceful, flexible, and committed to fostering student independence
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Conduct assessments to determine individual needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Implement orientation and mobility training when required
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
- Collaborate with student teams, including teachers, therapists, and families
- Maintain thorough documentation of services and student progress
