Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Elk River, Minnesota

Immerse yourself in a rewarding opportunity to support students with visual impairments in a contract role for the upcoming school year. This position focuses on direct and indirect instructional support across a caseload of approximately 23 students, including one Braille learner. With a flexible, part-time schedule of around 20 hours per week, you'll play a crucial role in empowering students and collaborating with educational teams in a supportive environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) teaching license in Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) education
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments
• Strong understanding of braille instruction and adaptive technology for visually impaired learners
• Ability to provide both direct services and consultative indirect support
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach with staff, students, and families

Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction and support to visually impaired students according to individual needs and IEP goals
• Work closely with classroom teachers and service providers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
• Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and use of assistive technology as needed
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and service delivery
• Participate in IEP meetings; offer insight and recommendations based on observations and assessments
• Schedule and manage workload efficiently within the approximate 20-hour/week commitment
