Key Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting preferred
- Strong understanding of Braille and assistive technology
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere
Responsibilities Include:
- Designing and delivering individualized instructional programs for visually impaired students
- Adapting general education lessons and materials for accessibility
- Providing direct support and instruction in Braille, assistive devices, and orientation and mobility skills
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, staff, and parents to implement IEP goals and maximize student participation
- Monitoring progress and adjusting teaching strategies as needed
- Participating in IEP meetings and providing expert input
- Staying current with best practices and emerging technology in the field
