Working on a contract basis, you will tailor instruction to meet the unique needs of students who are visually impaired, helping to create accessible learning opportunities and fostering confidence and independence.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of Braille and assistive technology
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere

Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and delivering individualized instructional programs for visually impaired students
  • Adapting general education lessons and materials for accessibility
  • Providing direct support and instruction in Braille, assistive devices, and orientation and mobility skills
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers, staff, and parents to implement IEP goals and maximize student participation
  • Monitoring progress and adjusting teaching strategies as needed
  • Participating in IEP meetings and providing expert input
  • Staying current with best practices and emerging technology in the field
