This full-time, onsite contract role offers the opportunity to apply your specialized knowledge within a collaborative school environment near Endicott, NY. As a valued educator, you’ll ensure that students with visual impairments receive outstanding instruction and resources tailored to their individual needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Familiarity with adaptive instructional materials, technology, and Braille
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Flexibility and problem-solving abilities in dynamic classroom environments
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum as necessary
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to support student learning and access
- Assess students’ abilities and needs, maintaining thorough, timely documentation
- Develop and modify lesson plans and educational materials in accessible formats
- Provide guidance on accommodations, assistive technology, and classroom modifications
- Advocate for student needs within the educational setting
- Participate in IEP meetings and professional development activities
This school-based contract position follows the academic calendar for the 2026-2027 school year, with specific details about caseload and daily duties to be provided. You’ll have the chance to positively impact students’ lives while working alongside dedicated professionals.
