Make a significant impact supporting students with visual impairments by providing specialized educational services to elementary students. This contract opportunity is ideal for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) seeking a role where individualized support and collaboration are valued.

You’ll work with two students in 3rd and 4th grade. The 3rd grader presents with more significant visual needs, while the 4th grader requires ongoing support and wears glasses. This position guarantees 4 hours per week: 3 hours will focus on direct instructional services, and the remaining hour is dedicated to developing and maintaining IEPs to ensure compliance and student progress tracking.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI); open to candidates with out-of-state credentials.
  • Experience supporting students with a range of visual impairments in a school setting strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of development and implementation of IEPs for students with visual impairments.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with educators, families, and service teams.
  • Ability to adapt teaching materials and methods to meet individual student needs.

Role Overview:

  • Deliver direct specialized instruction to two elementary students, focusing on both Braille and low vision strategies as appropriate.
  • Adapt classroom materials, technology, and resources to enhance accessibility.
  • Maintain accurate data on student progress; support and attend IEP meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to develop individualized learning goals.
  • Support generalization of skills throughout the school environment.
