Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), meeting applicable state requirements
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of adaptive and assistive technology
  • Ability to tailor instruction to meet a student’s individual learning plan
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, engaging with school staff and families
  • Comfortable working independently within a supportive environment

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instructional support to a single student with visual impairment
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized educational plans (IEPs) based on the student’s needs
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate accessible learning strategies
  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the educational team and family
  • Adapt materials, technology, and instruction for full participation in classroom learning
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere focused on the student’s strengths and goals
