Desired qualifications and experience:
- State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum to meet student needs
- Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction
Core responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to the unique learning needs of your student
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and family members to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Adapt materials and instructional strategies to ensure accessibility and maximize engagement
- Monitor and document progress, making instructional adjustments as needed
- Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in educating visually impaired students
