Desired qualifications and experience:

  • State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to adapt and modify curriculum to meet student needs
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored to the unique learning needs of your student
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and family members to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt materials and instructional strategies to ensure accessibility and maximize engagement
  • Monitor and document progress, making instructional adjustments as needed
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in educating visually impaired students
