Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Proven experience providing instruction to students with visual impairments in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in creating and adapting resources for diverse student needs, including Braille and assistive technologies
  • Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to students’ abilities and educational goals
  • Teach and reinforce Braille literacy, orientation and mobility skills, and adaptive technologies
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Regularly assess and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize learning outcomes
  • Advocate for student needs and provide ongoing consultation to ensure students have necessary accommodations
