Desired Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility for Indiana credentialing
• Proven experience in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
• Strong understanding of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
• Ability to assess student needs and recommend appropriate accommodations
• Effective communicator with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Problem-solving mindset and adaptable approach to diverse student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor students’ vision-related needs and progress
• Design engaging lessons and adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility
• Provide direct and consultative instruction in specialized techniques, including Braille, orientation and mobility strategies, and use of assistive technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to implement IEP goals and support inclusive practices
• Maintain thorough records and participate in IEP meetings
• Advocate for students’ rights and needs within the education setting
