Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with school-aged students with visual impairments is highly desirable
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt teaching materials and use assistive technology to accommodate various needs
- Passion for inclusion, advocacy, and student-centered learning
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and individualized education plans to students with visual impairments across a variety of grade levels
- Adapt general curricula and utilize specialized equipment or techniques to improve students’ educational access and independence
- Conduct assessments and interpret evaluations to determine students’ instructional needs
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to support student success
- Assist with orientation and mobility training as necessary
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP/504 meetings
