Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Teaching Certification with endorsement for Visually Impaired students (TVI)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Experience developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technologies and Braille instruction
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Previous school-based experience is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored instruction and support to students with visual impairments in various educational settings
- Adapt curriculum, materials, and classroom environments to meet individual needs
- Conduct assessments and document student progress in accordance with IEP goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to enhance inclusion and accessibility
- Offer guidance and resources for integrating assistive technology and Braille
- Consult and communicate regularly with families, ensuring comprehensive progress updates
