Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Everett, WA

In this contract role, you’ll collaborate closely with educators and support staff to create an accessible, inclusive educational environment for children with visual impairments. Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or similar
• Proficiency in Braille transcription and instruction
• Experience working with students who have visual impairments in a school setting
• Solid knowledge of adaptive technology and equipment for visually impaired students
• Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
• Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt curriculum

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
• Transcribe educational materials into Braille and other accessible formats
• Assess student needs, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as required
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and families to support student learning
• Provide recommendations for assistive technology and train students in its use
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal-setting and progress evaluations
• Promote awareness of visual impairment needs within the school environment
