Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, ranging from early childhood to high school
  • Proficiency in developing and adapting curriculum and instructional materials for various visual needs
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
  • Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to core content
  • Develop and modify individualized lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Conduct assessments and provide input on IEPs, collaborating with other educational professionals
  • Offer ongoing support, resources, and consultation for classroom teachers and families
  • Support students in transitioning skills for greater independent living and classroom integration
