A specialized role is available for a part-time Teacher for Blind and Visually Impaired students, offering up to four days of work per week in the Rochester, NY area. This contract position is designed to support the educational needs of visually impaired students within a school setting, with specific caseload details to be determined upon securing the candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instructional services to students who are blind or visually impaired.
- Adapt classroom materials and techniques to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with school staff and families to develop individualized education plans.
- Utilize specialized teaching methods and assistive technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly to adjust instructional approaches.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid New York State teaching license with certification for Blind and Visually Impaired education.
- Experience working with visually impaired students in an educational environment.
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information.
Location and Schedule:
- Position based in Rochester, NY, serving within Monroe 2 BOCES Orleans.
- Contract from January 12, 2026, to June 26, 2026.
- Work up to four days per week, Monday through Friday; specific days and hours to be discussed.
