This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work with 20-23 students, each with unique strengths and needs, in a collaborative and supportive educational setting located near Fayetteville, NC. In this onsite-only role, you’ll help foster independence and confidence, leveraging your expertise to adapt curriculum and facilitate learning for visually impaired students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current and active North Carolina Teaching Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and instructional strategies for visual accessibility
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Commitment to accommodating diverse learning needs
- Experience with Braille and assistive technology for the visually impaired is highly desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional and consultative services to 20-23 visually impaired students, ensuring each receives individualized, needs-based support
- Conduct assessments and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Develop accessible instructional materials and utilize adaptive technology
- Partner with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to promote inclusion and student success
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting interventions as necessary
- Guide and train staff and families on effective techniques for supporting visually impaired learners
