Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license and certifications required
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments strongly preferred
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to a wide range of visual needs
- Proficient in accessible instructional strategies, Braille, and adaptive technologies
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Passion for inclusion and equity in education
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
- Assess student abilities and create tailored lesson plans in collaboration with other school staff
- Modify curriculum materials and provide resources that accommodate visual impairments
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Serve as an advocate and educational resource regarding visual impairment within the school community
- Comply with all district and state regulations for special education services
