Key Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certification is required
- Proven experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized educational plans for a diverse student population
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Capacity to work onsite, providing hands-on support and instructional services
- Experience with assistive technology and braille instruction is highly desirable
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to a caseload of 20-23 students with varying degrees of visual impairment
- Assess student needs, monitor progress, and document achievement according to state and local guidelines
- Develop and implement individualized strategies and accommodations that optimize learning
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to ensure continuity of services
- Advocate for students and educate school communities about accessibility and inclusion
- Remain current on best practices and developments in the field of visual impairment education
