Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid credential/certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, or eligibility for state licensure

  • Exceptional communication and advocacy skills
  • Experience working with students across a variety of age groups and abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, families, and support staff
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a genuine passion for empowering learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans for students with visual impairments
  • Teach Braille literacy, use of assistive technology, and daily living skills as appropriate for each student
  • Partner with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure accessible curriculum and learning environments
  • Provide ongoing training and resources to school personnel and families
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies to promote success
  • Participate in IEP meetings, address compliance requirements, and maintain accurate documentation
