Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Valid Alabama certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Strong understanding of adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and educational modifications
  • Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments in school settings preferred
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with parents, teachers, and specialists
  • Ability to assess student needs and track progress effectively

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted instruction and support to students with visual impairments
  • Adapt educational content and materials for accessibility, including Braille and low-vision formats
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure classrooms are optimized for student success
  • Support development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Advocate for student inclusion and equal access to all school activities
  • Offer ongoing consultation and training to school staff as needed
