Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Fort Benning, Georgia

Make a meaningful impact in students’ lives by providing specialized instructional support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic educational setting. This contract position begins August 3, 2026 and will run through May 21, 2027, with the possibility of pre- and post-planning days. Located near Fort Benning, GA, this onsite role offers the opportunity to collaborate with educators and families to ensure students with visual impairments receive the resources and guidance they deserve.

Qualifications:

• Holds an active Georgia Educator Certificate for Teachers of the Visually Impaired.
• Strong understanding of effective teaching practices for students with visual impairments, across various age groups.
• Committed to maintaining detailed daily documentation to track services provided.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with staff and families.
• Experience adapting curriculum and materials to meet individualized student needs.
• Flexible to discuss placement and age-group preferences/strengths during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and support in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for accommodations and modifications.
• Maintain clear, accurate daily service logs as required by the district.
• Collaborate with the educational team to create accessible classroom experiences and advocate for necessary resources.
• Participate in planning and consultative meetings, contributing your expertise to student success.
• Engage with families to support continuity of learning and skill development outside the classroom.

This full-time role (minimum 37.5 hours/week) may consider part-time schedules, depending on availability and district needs.
