This contract opportunity for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is a full-time position focused on direct teaching and consultative services to meet the diverse needs of students. As an essential member of the educational team, you'll empower students to access curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their goals.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Florida DOE Teacher for Visually Impaired certification
- Proficiency in teaching Braille and adapted instructional techniques
- Facility in supporting K-12 age groups; experience across various grade levels preferred
- Ability to provide direct and consultative services within a school-based setting
- Strong communication, consultation, and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- District fingerprinting required (prior clearance via the AHCA Clearinghouse may be transferable)
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to 12 students (totaling approximately 690 service minutes weekly)
- Serve as a consultant for 2 additional students, ensuring comprehensive support
- Collaborate with school teams across up to five campuses within the district
- Adapt curriculum and materials for students with visual impairments
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs), monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed
- Travel between assigned schools as necessary to maintain quality and continuity of service
