Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Indiana teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
  • Previous experience working with children who are blind or visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong skills in Braille literacy, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
  • Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored for visually impaired students
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
  • Assess students' abilities and needs, contributing expertise during IEP meetings
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt materials, modify curriculum, and implement specialized learning strategies
  • Facilitate the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment to promote independent learning
  • Partner with families, related service providers, and staff to ensure comprehensive support for each student
  • Monitor and document progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to maximize student outcomes
