Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligible for licensure in Indiana
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments in a K-12 setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of adaptive technologies, Braille, and accessible instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and staff
- Skilled in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Organized, adaptable, and innovative in your educational approach
- Comfortable collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Assess student needs and adapt curriculum materials accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, other specialists, and families to maximize student learning
- Assist in the selection, preparation, and use of adaptive technology and materials
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Offer training and resources to staff about best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
- Advocate for full inclusion and independence of each student
