Qualifications:

  • Current Massachusetts Visually Impaired Teacher License is required.
  • Experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of adaptive technology and braille instruction.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and educational teams.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction to students with visual impairments, utilizing braille, assistive technology, and tailored resources.
  • Assess students’ strengths, needs, and progress, adapting instruction to meet educational goals and IEP requirements.
  • Consult with educators and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place.
  • Guide students in developing independence, orientation, mobility, and adaptive daily living skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest instructional strategies and assistive technologies for visually impaired students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and support.
