Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid MA Visually Impaired teaching license
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and other educational professionals
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to tailor instruction and materials
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and braille is highly preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, adapting materials and methods to individual student needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure accessible learning environments
  • Conduct assessments and contribute to the development and monitoring of IEPs
  • Advocate for students’ access and accommodations, and assist in training staff on best practices
  • Support students in developing skills for academic, social, and daily life success
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to stakeholders
