Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Massachusetts license as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with children or adolescents who have visual impairments preferred
  • Proficient in creating and adapting instructional materials for visually impaired learners
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible school environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to each student's needs
  • Provide direct teaching and support on core curriculum and specialized literacy, including braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility skills
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt lesson materials and instructional strategies
  • Assess student performance and participate in IEP meetings
  • Advocate for accessibility and necessary accommodations, working closely with families to ensure comprehensive support
