Desired Background & Qualifications:

  • Current certification/licensure appropriate for Visually Impaired teaching
  • Prior experience working with visually impaired or blind students, preferably in a school setting
  • Ability to create and adapt materials for various visual needs, including Braille, large print, and assistive technology
  • Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Passion for advocacy and inclusion within education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students to determine appropriate instructional strategies and accommodations
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress
  • Deliver instruction in core academic subjects, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
  • Train and support classroom teachers and staff on best practices for inclusion
  • Collaborate closely with families, related service providers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Utilize specialized technology and materials to enhance student learning
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education
