Desired Experience and Skills:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with students across various age groups and functional levels
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Commitment to fostering independence and advocating for student needs
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum for visual accessibility

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess student abilities and develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provide direct instruction and consultative services for visually impaired students in classrooms and one-on-one settings
• Adapt classroom materials and incorporate assistive technology to facilitate access to the curriculum
• Work closely with general education teachers and staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are in place
• Guide and educate families on strategies and resources to support their children at home
• Monitor and document progress, adjusting instruction as needed
