Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Fremont, California

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, focusing on tailored learning plans and adaptive strategies.
• Collaborating with general education teachers and staff to create inclusive classroom environments.
• Preparing, adapting, and providing accessible instructional materials using Braille and assistive technologies.
• Assessing student needs to support academic and personal growth.
• Serving as an advocate for students’ educational access and participating in IEP meetings as needed.
• Providing training to staff and family members on how to support students with visual impairments effectively.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and progress reports in compliance with educational standards.
• As a Brailler, transcribing classroom materials and resources into Braille to ensure accessibility.

Ideal candidates will possess:

• Experience teaching students with visual impairments or demonstrable skills as a Brailler.
• Strong knowledge of braille literacy, adaptive technology, and best practices for accessibility.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Relevant credentials or certification in visual impairment education or braille transcription (where applicable).
• Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and adaptability.
