Ideal candidates will possess:

• Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or demonstrated proficiency in braille and braille-related technology
• Prior experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in educational settings
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work alongside other educators and support staff
• Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Ability to adapt instructional materials and classroom activities to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills for supporting students and guiding families
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning atmosphere

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing direct instructional support to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
• Assessing and addressing students’ educational, social, and emotional needs through tailored lessons
• Collaborating with classroom teachers to modify curricula and adapt materials, ensuring accessibility for all students
• Producing or transcribing educational materials in braille (applies to brailler positions)
• Offering training and support to staff in using assistive technology and braille resources
• Participating in IEP meetings and contributing expert insights for student success
