Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching credential for Visual Impairment (TVI) in California or eligibility to obtain
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
  • Proficiency in braille, assistive technology, and adaptive devices
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication abilities to engage with students, families, and staff
  • Commitment to fostering independence and academic success for students with visual challenges

Primary Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to each student’s vision needs
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments, as needed
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and service providers to adapt curriculum and materials
  • Facilitate development of orientation and mobility skills alongside specialists
  • Maintain clear records and provide input for IEP meetings and progress reporting
  • Offer training and guidance to staff and families on the use of accessibility tools and resources
