Key Qualifications:
- Valid Texas teaching license with certification for the visually impaired
- Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or similar roles in school settings is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
- Passion for empowering students with visual impairments to reach their academic and personal goals
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Adapt classroom materials and develop resources to support accessible learning
- Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to modify lessons and ensure a supportive classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and document achievements toward IEP goals
- Support the use of assistive technology and mobility techniques within the school community
- Provide training and guidance to staff and families on techniques for working with visually impaired students
- Foster a positive, engaging learning environment focused on student potential and success
