Key Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Current Texas teaching license for the visually impaired is required
  • Experience in developing and adapting instructional materials for visually impaired students
  • Strong collaboration skills to work alongside general education teachers and support staff
  • Ability to assess individual needs and implement customized educational plans
  • Dedication to promoting an inclusive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across a variety of grade levels
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure full accessibility for all learners
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to the development of IEPs
  • Offer consultation and training to fellow educators and family members on best practices
  • Advocate for necessary resources and accommodations to support student success
  • Track progress, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in regular team meetings
