Teacher of Visually Impaired - Garland, TX

This is a contract opportunity for the upcoming academic year, providing vital support to students across several campuses. You’ll offer expertise and adaptive instruction to a diverse caseload, helping students maximize their independence and academic success.

Your background working with visually impaired students will contribute to transformative experiences, and your adaptability will be key as the caseload and campus assignments may shift throughout the year. This full-time position runs from July 30, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active Texas State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TSVI) licensure is required
• Demonstrated experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired within a school setting
• Ability to travel between assigned campuses (about six schools) and to provide instruction to both on-campus and homebound students
• Strong communication and collaborative skills to partner with faculty, families, and related services
• Flexibility to adjust caseload and assignments as needed throughout the year

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments ages 5–18
• Adapt curriculum and materials to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals
• Carry out assessments, write reports, and participate in ARD/IEP meetings
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, orientation and mobility specialists, and related staff
• Provide guidance and training to educators and families supporting visually impaired students
