An exciting opportunity is available for a Visually Impaired Teacher to support students across K-12 in an itinerant capacity for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position is located within a district approximately 45 minutes from Charlotte, NC, offering flexibility and a chance to positively impact the lives of visually impaired students.
The role is ideal for new Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) entering the profession, providing valuable hands-on experience while guiding students to maximize their independent living and learning skills. The position requires travel throughout the district to serve students in their various school environments, promoting inclusion and tailored educational support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and services to visually impaired students K-12 on an itinerant basis
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with state guidelines
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and materials
- Train students in the use of assistive technology, Braille, and orientation and mobility skills
- Communicate progress and challenges with families and school administration
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Strong motivation and adaptability, especially for new teachers entering the field
- Willingness to travel within the district to meet diverse student needs
