Ideal candidates will bring:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience with K-12 populations, with a demonstrated ability to adapt instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
- Strong communication, consultation, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with a range of assistive technologies and Braille instruction
- Willingness to travel throughout the district as required
- A commitment to fostering student independence and inclusion within general education settings
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering individualized instruction for students with visual impairments across multiple schools
- Collaborating with general and special education staff to support IEP goals, accommodations, and access needs
- Conducting assessments and maintaining detailed progress reports
- Consulting with families, staff, and related service providers
- Providing guidance and training for staff and caregivers on assistive technologies and adaptations
