Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience with Braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with current educational best practices and legal requirements for students with disabilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction using specialized materials and teaching strategies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student success
  • Adapt classroom materials for accessibility, including producing Braille and implementing tactile graphics
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and monitor ongoing progress
  • Advocate for appropriate accommodations and modifications within the school setting
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings and professional development opportunities
