Inspire and empower students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a fulfilling contract position. Qualifications & Experience Sought:

  • State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments, utilizing braille and assistive technology
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and related service providers
  • Experience in adapting curriculum and instructional materials to meet students’ unique needs
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a compassionate approach to supporting learners

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in one-on-one and classroom settings
  • Develop, adapt, and modify teaching materials, leveraging braille and specialized tools as needed
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure student success
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and educational needs
  • Support student independence, orientation, and mobility within the school environment
  • Monitor and document student progress and participate in IEP meetings with stakeholders
