Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Greenacres, WA

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain
• Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision in school environments
• Strong knowledge of Braille, adapted technology, and assistive devices
• Ability to assess, develop, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills for working with families, staff, and external providers

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals for students with visual impairments across grade levels
• Modify curriculum materials and provide accessible resources using Braille, large print, and specialized technology
• Conduct evaluations and ongoing progress monitoring
• Advise teachers, aides, and other staff to ensure inclusive educational practices and accommodations
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including occupational and physical therapists, to address students’ diverse needs
• Support families in understanding visual impairment and available resources
• Participate in professional development and maintain required licensure
