Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive tools
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to create individualized instructional plans
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness in managing diverse learning needs

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support IEP development and implementation
  • Promote accessibility through adapted materials, technology integration, and environmental modifications
  • Advise and train school staff on best practices and accommodations
  • Foster self-advocacy and independent living skills in students
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and program effectiveness
