Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field
  • Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired specialization (TVI)
  • Experience working with students with a range of visual impairments preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility strategies is advantageous

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments in K-12 settings
  • Assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide direct and consultative services to students, teachers, and families
  • Adapt instructional materials and facilitate access to the curriculum using Braille, large print, and technology
  • Train staff and collaborate with educational teams on accommodations and accessibility
  • Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
  • Serve as an advocate for students within the school environment
