Key Qualifications:

  • State certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain it (out-of-state applicants considered)
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching materials
  • Experience creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and educators
  • Flexibility to work with diverse age groups and skill levels

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ needs and develop tailored instructional strategies
  • Deliver individualized and small-group instruction in academic subjects, orientation & mobility, daily living, and technology
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curricular materials for accessibility
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records as required by school and state guidelines
  • Consult regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams to maximize student success
  • Attend meetings, in-services, and professional development as requested
