Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Alabama
• Experience working with school-aged children in a classroom or resource setting
• Knowledge of assistive technologies, Braille instruction, and individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Passion for supporting the academic and personal development of students with visual impairments

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and consultation for students who are visually impaired, following individualized educational plans
• Adapt curriculum materials and design learning environments to support accessibility
• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to the development of IEP goals
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and strategies are implemented
• Participate in team meetings and maintain accurate documentation of student progress
