Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Hampton, VA

This role involves working 21 hours a week, distributed over three days with 7.5-hour shifts each day. While preference is given to candidates available for in-person instruction, there may be flexibility to explore virtual (VOCO) teaching options.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Virginia licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Proficient in teaching Braille to a diverse range of students
• Strong understanding of educational adaptations and accessible instructional strategies
• Experience collaborating with school staff, families, and related service providers
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to advocate for students’ individual needs
• Responsible, reliable, and capable of maintaining compliance with student IEPs and educational goals

What You'll Do:

• Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across multiple grade levels
• Develop and implement individualized educational plans tailored to student abilities and goals
• Teach Braille literacy, assistive technology, and other adaptive skills crucial to student independence
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support teams to modify curriculum and classroom environments
• Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and communicate regularly with families and staff
