Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting K-12 learners as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in York County, PA. This onsite, contract-based opportunity will have you providing vital educational services to multiple school districts throughout the region, including Southern, South Eastern, and Dallastown, from August 18, 2025, through June 1, 2026.
You’ll collaborate closely with district staff as part of an itinerant team, delivering specialized instruction and adaptive strategies designed to help students with visual impairments reach their full potential in the classroom. Your expertise will empower both students and educators, fostering inclusive learning environments and promoting independence.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current and full Pennsylvania teaching license as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students in an itinerant/consultative role
- Knowledge of braille instruction, assistive technology, and individualized education plan (IEP) development
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments across varied locations
- Commitment to professional growth and inclusive education practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in multiple schools
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development and implementation
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and families to support student access and progress
- Provide training on adaptive technology and materials
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Travel within York County as part of an itinerant schedule
