This itinerant role involves providing specialized instruction and support services across multiple sites, ensuring students receive equitable access to learning. You’ll facilitate meaningful collaboration with teachers, staff, and the Louisiana Department of Education, while having the flexibility to use your expertise in assistive technology and Braille instruction to make a lasting difference.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and current Louisiana DOE Certification, along with certification in teaching students with visual impairments
  • At least three years of experience working with elementary, secondary, or special education populations
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to use both qualitative and quantitative data to drive decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, fostering strong relationships with general education staff and inspiring a culture of inclusivity
  • Proficiency in Braille and familiarity with assistive technology designed for students with visual impairments
  • Orientation and mobility training experience a plus
  • Strong sense of professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to excel with competing priorities independently
  • Capacity for light physical activity and the flexibility to travel daily between assigned school sites using your own transportation
  • Ability to successfully complete background checks, drug screening, and all credentialing requirements
  • Commitment to ongoing reciprocal communication with all relevant educational departments
