Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and visually impaired certification required (active Louisiana DOE certification).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in elementary, secondary, or special education settings.
- Exceptional communication and engagement skills in multiple settings.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information and act as an inspiring change agent.
- Familiarity with assistive technology designed for visually impaired students.
- Ability to provide Braille instruction and (preferred) orientation and mobility training.
- High degree of professionalism, skilled at multitasking and independent travel between sites.
Responsibilities:
- Daily travel to multiple educational sites in the region.
- Deliver direct instructional services to visually impaired students.
- Support and train school staff to meet the needs of visually impaired students.
- Procure specialized textbooks and materials, coordinate with classroom teachers.
- Maintain communication with state education representatives.
- Complete additional duties under the direction of leadership.
- Fulfill district credentialing requirements, including background checks.
