Desired Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), eligible for Florida credentialing
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Proficient in developing and delivering individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with other educational professionals
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
- Assess student progress and adapt instruction to meet individualized needs
- Develop and implement effective strategies to facilitate access to core and expanded core curriculum
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to support student goals
- Conduct functional vision assessments and make recommendations for accommodations
- Maintain thorough documentation of student performance and services provided
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing program planning
