Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments, preferably in an educational environment
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment for students with visual impairments
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working alongside teachers, staff, and families
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student goals and school initiatives

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and consulting services for students with visual impairments across various grade levels
• Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, recommending and implementing appropriate modifications
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum materials and ensure accessibility
• Train staff and support teams in use of Braille, large print, and assistive technologies to foster student independence
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource for families, empowering them to support their child’s academic and developmental progress
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records as part of a multidisciplinary education team
