Key Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Successful completion of MTELs (Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure)
- Experience working with K-12 students who are blind or have low vision is highly valued
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
- Flexible, compassionate, and dedicated approach to individualized student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and adapt instructional materials and strategies for students with visual impairments
- Assess student abilities and design personalized educational plans to maximize independence and academic participation
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
- Provide direct and consultative services in accordance with IEPs and educational best practices
- Contribute to the creation of accessible classroom environments and advocate for necessary accommodations and assistive technology
