Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Visually Impaired Teacher Certification and MA DOE License
  • Successful completion of MTELs
  • Experience working in school settings or with students who are visually impaired preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to meet individual student needs
  • Passionate about fostering independence and accessibility

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and consultation to students who are visually impaired, individually or in groups
  • Adapt educational materials, create accessible learning content, and recommend assistive technology
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to design and implement effective educational programs
  • Assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in the education of students with visual impairments
