Teacher of Visually Impaired in Henrico, VA

Key Qualifications:

• Hold valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous experience in a K-12 setting with visually impaired students strongly preferred
• Thorough understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Organized, flexible, and committed to student-focused teaching

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess students' visual functioning and create individualized learning plans
• Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of assistive devices
• Coordinate with general and special education staff to ensure inclusive practices
• Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
• Track progress, maintain records, and communicate regularly with families and team members
• Provide training and resources to colleagues and caregivers regarding visual impairments
