Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Hernando, Mississippi

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairment (VI) or eligibility for certification
• Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired preferred, but not required
• Strong understanding of adaptive technology, Braille, and accessible curriculum
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Compassion, patience, and creative problem-solving abilities
• Ability to travel between school sites, as needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans
• Collaborate with school staff and families to support student needs
• Assess academic and functional vision skills
• Adapt classroom materials, create accessible resources, and teach Braille as needed
• Provide guidance on assistive technology and orientation & mobility
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
