Key Details:
- Schedule: 3 to 5 days per week
- Hours: 7.5 hours per day, totaling 22.5 to 37.5 hours weekly
- Contract Duration: August 6th through May 28th (2026-2027 School Year)
- Reporting to: Director of Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments in school settings
- Strong understanding of visual impairment strategies, assistive technology, and curriculum adaptation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored for students with visual impairments
- Deliver direct instruction focusing on visual efficiency, orientation, mobility, and adaptive skills
- Utilize assistive technologies to support student learning and accessibility
- Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure cohesive support for students
- Monitor progress and adjust teaching methods to meet student needs
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district and state regulations
