Explore an impactful contract role supporting students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, working across K-12+ settings in the Chattanooga area. Starting August 5, 2026, and lasting through May 19, 2027, you'll join a district seeking passionate experts to fill crucial positions that have been vacant in the previous school year.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Valid DOE certification required
  • Demonstrated expertise in Braille instruction and adaptive technology for the visually impaired
  • Familiarity with assistive technology, with additional preference for experience with the Federal Quota program
  • Prior experience collaborating on IEP teams using digital platforms (experience with TN Pulse preferred)
  • Comfortable working itinerantly in both general education and specialized classrooms with diverse needs (including students with multiple disabilities)
  • Ability to travel between assigned schools; schedules are designed to minimize commute

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional support and consultative services to visually impaired students across elementary, middle, and high schools
  • Develop, adapt, and implement accessible instructional materials and assessments using Braille, large print, and/or technology as needed
  • Serve as an integral participant in IEP meetings, maintaining accurate documentation and progress reports through the TN Pulse platform
  • Guide and collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff, fostering an inclusive environment for students
  • Utilize Chromebooks and other district technology in instructional delivery
