Step into a rewarding contract opportunity serving students across multiple grade levels as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the greater Chattanooga area. This full-time position (with possible part-time flexibility) runs from August 5, 2026, to May 19, 2027, and plays a pivotal role in supporting K-12+ learners. Your expertise will be instrumental, as these caseloads have been unfilled during the previous school year, making your impact truly meaningful from day one.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Valid and active DOE certification
  • Experience teaching students who are visually impaired, across a range of ages
  • Proficiency in Braille and use of assistive technology (knowledge of the Federal Quota program is a bonus)
  • Familiarity with itinerant instruction—comfortable traveling to geographically organized schools within the district
  • Experience working with both general education settings and students with multiple disabilities
  • Knowledge of IEP processes; experience using digital IEP management systems (ideally TN Pulse)
  • Comfortable participating in IEP meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to use Chromebook devices for instruction
  • Must be able (or willing) to complete timely fingerprinting as part of credentialing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative instruction to visually impaired students across elementary, middle, and high school
  • Travel between assigned schools; schedules will be thoughtfully coordinated to minimize travel
  • Teach and adapt curricula with the use of Braille, tactile materials, and assistive tech
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and special education staff
  • Ensure accurate IEP documentation and support student progress monitoring
  • Provide expertise and training to staff regarding accommodations and technology
