In this contract position, you'll work within a supportive educational environment, providing specialized teaching and adaptive strategies to help students with visual impairments thrive.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification or endorsement as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments across various age groups.
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technologies, and low-vision devices.
- Ability to assess individual needs and tailor instruction to promote independence and academic growth.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with families, general education teachers, and related service providers.
- Flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Create accessible instructional materials using Braille, large print, or electronic formats.
- Provide guidance and training to classroom staff on the use of specialized equipment and best practices.
- Support students in developing orientation, mobility, and daily living skills.
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate closely with educational teams.
- Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and adapt strategies as needed.
