Desired Qualifications:
- Active certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI)
- Proficient in instruction for students with visual disabilities, across K-12
- Ability to utilize appropriate methods as outlined by local district standards
- Experience with formal and informal assessment techniques
- Comfortable preparing for and attending ARD meetings
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in sign language
- Commitment to collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct specialized instruction to students who are visually impaired, adapting lessons for a range of learning needs and age groups
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student achievement and track progress
- Collaborate with families, general educators, and related service professionals to promote student success
- Prepare documentation and participate actively in ARD/IEP meetings to ensure comprehensive student support
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual education plans while fostering independence and confidence in learners
