Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Houston, Texas

Experienced in supporting students with visual impairments? Here’s your chance to step into a rewarding role with a school-based contract, just outside Houston, TX. This position will cover a caseload for a retiring Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), starting this December. The role is primarily onsite, with some flexibility for part-time or possibly hybrid arrangements—designed to suit your ideal schedule and maximize your impact.

What we’re looking for:

• Valid Texas TVI certification (or eligibility for licensure in Texas)
• Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in school settings
• Confidence managing a diverse caseload independently
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, staff, and families
• Ability to assess, plan, and implement tailored instructional and accessibility strategies
• Passion for advocacy and inclusion of students with visual impairments

Duties you’ll take on:

• Carrying out all responsibilities of a TVI for students in a school environment
• Designing and adapting instructional materials and learning environments
• Providing direct and consultative services to students, staff, and families
• Monitoring student progress and documenting outcomes
• Collaborating on IEPs, functional vision assessments, and transition planning
• Traveling between campuses as needed to support your students
